Hosta

Hosta spp.

Plantain lilies (Eng.)

For centuries Hosta species have been popular garden plants in the temperate climates of the Northern hemisphere. Grown mainly for their bold foliage, they are produced in dense mounds of overlapping leaves. Their popularity has lead to hundreds of named hybrids having been developed from the 70-odd species found growing naturally in China, Japan, Korea and parts of eastern Russia.
