Janpanese Anemones are grown in gardens for the succession of flowers in late summer and autumn and look elegant at every stage, whether tight bud, long-lasting flower or neatly spherical seed head. The flowers are also grown for the cut flower industry.

Harvesting

Flowers can be picked for the vase, pick only once most of the flowers on the stem have fully opened, but before the pollen has started to shed. The seedpods make interesting addition in floral arrangements too!

Plants self seed well, seeds can also be sown into trays as soon as seed are ripe, rub the woolly coatings off with some course sand, they are slow and erratic to germinate.
