Amaranthus are one of the ancient foods, meaning "unfading'' in Greek and it will survive droughts and neglect. The grains of Amaranth were a food source in Stone Age times! It was used medicinally and is a food source in Africa, known in South Africa as 'morogo'. It is loved and found all over the world but can become a weed due to aggressive growth.
