Plectranthus sanguineus

Plectranthus sanguineus

Soft-wooded shrubby perennial which grows up to 1.5 m and taller. The erect stems are slightly succulent, brown to purplish, sometimes yellowish near the inflorescence and are often almost leafless at flowering time. The fleshy leaves are yellowish, brownish or whitish, broad at the apex and tapered at the base, hairy and with some pale glands underneath. The inflorescence is simple or branched and fairly dense. The flowers are 2-lipped, almost white, pale blue or purple, pubescent and with red glands on the lobes.
