Blue spur flower

Plectranthus ambiguus

Purple dazzler, Pincushion spurflower, Large flowered Plectranthus (Eng.), Speldekussing spoorsalie (Afr.)

1/3

Plectranthus ambiguus, or the blue spurflower, is a low-growing groundcover with large violet flowers that is grown in shady areas. The flowers bloom in profusion during the late summer and autumn months. The leaves are hairy and stems root freely as they touch the ground. While the plant is drought tolerant, it thrives if it is fed and watered regularly. The plant works well in hanging baskets, shady embankments or under trees.
