Knoffelboegoe (Afr.)

This aromatic shrub has a strong garlic scent when leaves are crushed. It naturally grows in coastal dunes, but can also establish in clay, granite and limestone soils. The flowers attract numerous insects from Autumn through winter and into Spring. Requires extra watering in winter and moderate watering in summer. Has sensitive roots systems and do not transplant easily. Use in water wise gardening. Oils from leaves can be used for manufacturing cosmetics, medicines, soaps and food colourants.
