Orange 'Midknight Valencia'

Citrus sinensis 'Midknight Valencia'

Orange (Eng.), Lemoen (Afr.)

1/2

Orange trees are evergreen with glossy dark green leaves and produce round orange fruit with a sweet yellow to orange flesh. Valencia oranges ripen towards the end of the citrus season and have a high juice content. The cultivar ‘Midkight Valencia’ is a cultivar from Africa. It produces medium to large-sized, oblong fruit with thin, tight orange skin. The skin does not always turn color when ripe and may retain or return to green. The flesh is richly flavored, juicy, and nearly seedless. The fruit ripens late-season into summer and in some climates, it may have two season’s crops on the tree. The trees have an upright habit, are moderately vigorous, not as productive as other Valencia’s and tend toward alternate bearing, which means they produce a heavy crop one year and a lighter crop the next. Valencia oranges are considered by some to be the best for juice. Uses: Culinary
