'Honeydew Green' is an Asian melon with a smooth, thin skin and lime to pale green flesh. The vines are high-yielding and grow large fruits.
Harvest the fruit when fully ripe as they don't ripen any further once picked. Ripe melons give off a sweet scent. The fruit should feel heavy for its size and have a waxy (not fuzzy) surface. Fruit take roughly 120 days to mature.
Direct sow seeds or start indoors in spring or summer. Sow seeds 1 cm deep with 6 seeds per hill with the hills 1.2-1.8 m apart or 30 cm apart in rows 1.5 m apart.
Soil PH preference
The fruits are edible raw and are popular for desserts.
Squash bugs feed on foliage and harm young plants. Squash vine borers can kill plants as they tunnel through the vines causing wilting vines. Striped cucumber beetles damage plants by eating leaves as well as stems and fruit.
