Chives (Eng.), Grasuie (Afr.)
Chives are a low-growing onion-like herb with long slender grass-like stems and decorative purple flowers. The green leaves are hollow and tubular. Clumps of well-established plants can be divided every 2-3 years. Chives are low-maintenance, high-yielding, versatile and easy to grow. The pretty flowers are edible and make attractive edging and flower arrangements. They make good container plants, provided they receive enough sun.
