Protea hybrid 'Pink Ice'

Pink ice protea (Eng.)

A vigorous and hardy plant adaptable to most conditions. Flowers most of the year with the peak over Autumn and Winter. Flowers are a rich pink-red with a silvery appearance and burgundy floral mass. One of the most popular proteas. Grown for its foliage. It makes an excellent cut flower and water-wise garden plant.

Cut flowers during winter while in flower.

Propagation

Seed
Fill a tray with 1½ coco peat and 1½ coarse sand. Plant one seed per cell, 1-2 inches deep. Moisten the soil, but do not over water. Germination takes between 1-3 months and is enhanced with a smoke primer.
Cuttings
Take semi-hardwood cuttings. Dip cutting in rooting hormone, insert cutting into a container filled with river sand. Water until the sand feels moist in shade/filtered sun. Roots develop 6-10 weeks.
