As can be deducted from its common name, this large bulbous plant can grow for over 100 years. It is well known for its poisonous bulb and leaves, its fan shape once the fruiting heads have stiffened and elongated as well as its medicinal use.
In nature, the dried out flowers release seeds, and so it propagates. If planting a bulb ensure that at least two-thirds of the bulb is above the ground.
