'Fino de Jete' cherimoya, the main cultivar of custard apples in Spain, is known for fruits which are soft, creamy and fragrant. These trees are tall and semi-deciduous sub-tropical trees and produce heart-shaped fruit with fingerprint indentations. Not only does it have various health benefits, due to the many vitamins and minerals in the fruit, but it also have medicinal use. The delicious fruit is also well known as a exotic ingredient in the culinary applications, and is enjoyed by most people.

Harvesting

The fruits turn from dark to light green when ripe. Fruit are ready to be picked as soon as there is creaming of the grooves between the fruit carpels. These fruits are usually harvested by hand. The fruit should be clipped rather than pulled from the tree. Cut the stem close to the fruit so it won't puncture other fruit during storage.
