Aubergine is a fruit that is in the Tomato family and much like Tomatoes, Aubergine is used as a vegetable in cooking. It is used heavily in vegetarian cuisine as it has a fairly bland flavour and so can be used in a multitude of ingredients. It is also known as an Eggplant because the fruits look egg-shaped when young. There are many different cultivars of Aubergine showing ranges of size and look of the fruit. There is even white Aubergine.
